The New York State Liquor Authority

Looking to find out what exactly is the New York State Liquor Authority?

The NYS SLA, or State Liquor Authority, is the government entity that oversees the license processing, approval and oversight for licensing of businesses that sell, distribute and serve alcohol (liquor, wine, beer, etc.). The SLA is separated into 3 Zones, one based out of New York City, the second based out of Abany, and the third based out of Buffalo. The first zone covers all five boroughs of New York City, both counties on Long Island and Westchester County. The second zone is the largest zone and spans all counties north of and including Rockland and Putnam counties and as far west as and including Broome, Cortland and Cayuga counties. The third zone covers all counties west of and including Wayne, Senece, Tompkins and Tioga counties.
